Ensure Your Happiness
There is nothing that will ensure your happiness more reliably than an investment in good food. Organic foods develop chemical defenses to predatory influences that are beneficial to us all, and sustainable practices will help us survive our limitations. Soil today has been so seriously depleted of the resources it once had, some claim we need 30% more food to obtain the same nutrients we enjoyed 30 years ago on a traditional diet. In order to obtain the nutrients we need today, we need to supplement our diet with non-traditional food sources.
Perhaps the most persistent major threat to our health is inflammation that results from the oxidation we do to generate energy in our environment. Stress and toxins resulting from even normal activity can be greatly reduced by eating a diet rich in anti-oxidants. Another common problem is an environment or lifestyle that does not change. Health is measured by the ability to adapt. If you are comfortable, you are not adapting. Mix things up, change your diet every so often, exercise in new ways, but be sure to change your habits whenever you are getting sluggish or apathetic to ensure that your body is stressed enough to stay fit. Here are some simple dietary requirements:
Start with Good Food! A great source of information on this subject can be found here:
You can also supplement your diet by using local resources, such as these Supper Clubs & Food Shelves.
Your best defense against stress related injury and immune function while building is a vitamin and mineral rich superfood such as Spirulina (Which I use, and you can find in the spice aisle of your grocery store), or something like the following product from iHerb: Greens, and Earth, or: Roots, but I have also found traditional spices, like Turmeric, Ginger, and Garlic to be very useful as medicines.
Take Krill Oil, or another source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids. As always, beware of rancid fats, another source of toxins. Your nose will tell you if your vitamins are fresh. Like any other food, supplements have a limited shelf life. Here's another Health Force Product:
Critically important to middle aged women for bone strength, and anyone dealing with knots in muscles and stress and strain associated with repetitive strain injury, Calcium and Collagen, which serve as the structure and action potential of muscle control is best taken in soluble form.
My favorite way to prepare these nutrients is found at the following site: Bone Broth. The results of taking your time to prepare a Bone Broth are instantaneous. You'll know if your missing these ingredients right away if you do this for yourself. An exceptional product for those on the go can be found here: Flora, Floradix Calcium-Magnesium
